Norfolk Sport Karate Academy looks back on a month filled with dedication, progress, and community spirit. August has been a fantastic month for our athletes, with physical challenges, competitions, elite-level training, and major tournament preparation. Here’s everything that’s happened and what’s to come.
💪 3,000 Push-Up Challenge:
This month, our students took on the challenge of 100 push-ups per day for 30 days, aiming for a grand total of 3,000 push-ups by the end of August.
The challenges we provide aren’t just about building strength, but are also about building consistency, accountability, and resilience.
We're incredibly proud of everyone who participated. Whether you hit 3,000 or gave it your best shot.
📸 Summer Photo Competition:
We also launched our Summer Photo Competition, inviting you to submit photos performing karate techniques in creative and unexpected locations.
The response was fantastic! From seaside katas to sunset kicks, our students captured the spirit of karate in beautiful and adventurous ways.
Stay tuned as we announce the winning photo and feature them across our social media platforms!
🥋 Elite Kata Training: Anan & Kururunfa Prep for the Lion Cup
Selected NSKA athletes participated in specialist kata training sessions focused on two advanced katas: Anan and Kururunfa. These courses were designed to refine technical performance, precision, and timing. All key elements required for top-level competition.
These sessions form a crucial part of our preparation for the Lion Cup in Luxembourg this September, where selected athletes will represent our Association on the international stage.
Links Karate Association Training:
To cap off the month, our members took part in Links Karate Association training. These sessions play a key role in reinforcing technical standards, aligning competition criteria, and provide important insights into competition dynamics and preparation.
BKF International Championships – 30th & 31st August
Sensei Rhys after winning his way through multiple rounds was victorious in the final of U21 Male Kata. Retaining his focus he then moved on to his second event Senior Male Kata where he made it to his second final of the day but coming up short this time but still achieving second place in Britain! 🥇🥈
NSKA Kata squad member Lucy Brooks also earned her way to her events final and also brought home silver to the academy. Lucy after winning this year’s English National Championships is motivated and is bringing back consistent podium finish results. 🥈
Isabel Swanborough gave a fantastic effort in her two categories. Showing focus and precision throughout her performances this lead her to winning a Bronze medal Senior Female Kata for the first time in her competitive career! Isabel is keen for more success in this new category. 🥉
Chloe Miller brought home a Bronze medal in her Para Kata Category. Showing great technique and control throughout her kata. A fantastic effort shown to earn her way to the medal table once again! 🥉
And last but not least Noah Swanborough who gave a brilliant effort in his category. Showing such phenomenal power and immense technique in his performance. Proving once again he is on his journey to greatness within our sport. 📈
If August was packed, September promises to be even more exciting:
🦁 Lion Cup, Luxembourg:
Selected athletes will head to Luxembourg to compete in the Lion Cup, a high-level international tournament drawing top talent from Europe and beyond. Representing both the academy and the UK, our competitors will face world-class opposition and continue to grow through experience on the global stage. Such a fantastic feat to be chosen to compete on the international stage at the highest level in Sport Karate for the WKF. A huge well done to everyone who was chosen as good luck for the competition!
🏴 English International Karate Championships:
Selected athletes will also compete in the English International Championships held in Crystal Palace. Another majorly significant competition where our competitors will be tested with every performance they give and every opponent they face. Good luck to our team as they head to the biggest competition in the UK!
UEA Karate Partnership:
We are also extremely proud to announce that Norfolk Sport Karate Academy is the lead associated team for the University of East Anglia’s karate club. Starting in September, we will be delivering Sunday training sessions for UEA’s karate team, helping to develop university-level athletes and build deeper community links through sport. We look to take athletes to the highest level in University Competition. Including BUCS Championships and more. Stay tuned for exciting news on our new partnership.
After-School Clubs:
Our after-school karate clubs are launching with increased participation and enthusiasm from local students and parents. These clubs not only teach Karate but also increase discipline, respect, and confidence in young people. Starting in Taverham High School we look to promote this offer through other Schools in the local Community!
🌟 The Future is Bright for Norfolk Sport Karate Academy
We’re excited to see what September brings. And we are proud to have such committed athletes, instructors, and supporters along for the journey.
