NSKA 2025

Norfolk Sport Karate Academy: A Year in Review – 2025

As 2025 comes to a close, we at Norfolk Sport Karate Academy are reflecting on an incredible first year since our official opening in April.

This blog post is designed to highlight and reflect upon the biggest achievements of our opening year, so if you have any more memories or achievements we may have missed – make sure you comment them down below!

2025 has been a fantastic journey, and we are proud to say that NSKA is already recognized as one of Norfolk's leading sport karate clubs. From training hard, winning titles, and creating opportunities for our athletes to shine globally, our inaugural year has set the foundation for an exciting future for Karate in Norfolk.

Grand Opening in April.

In April 2025, we officially opened the doors of NSKA, driven by a mission to provide high-quality training in both traditional and sport karate. Our aim has always been clear: to bring WKF Professional Sport Karate to Norfolk. Bringing the highest level of competition in the world to our County. In all of this, we have built a strong, disciplined team of athletes who can compete at the highest levels and bring out the best in each other.

The passion and commitment of our instructors, athletes, and families have helped us grow quickly, and we’ve seen first-hand the talent and determination that Norfolk has to offer.

National & International Champions.

One of the highlights of 2025 has been the success of our athletes. Despite being a relatively new academy, NSKA athletes have shown success in bringing home national and international titles. From competitions in Harlow, Sheffield, Halifax and Worcester, to name a few. Our team has truly stepped up with multiple gold, silver and bronze medals won at British and English Championships.

Several of our talented athletes have travelled across the UK and around the globe, competing at the highest levels in various competitions alike the Lion Cup Luxembourg, Coupe De Internationale Luxembourg, and WKF K1 Italy. To be selected and chosen for these types of competition is extraordinary. Thus far NSKA athletes have brought home 2 bronze medals and 1 gold medal from abroad competition, which is a monumental feat to achieve at the highest professional level of competition in the world. Truly outstanding! Our athletes’ success really is a testament to their dedication and hard work that they put in every session.

NSKA X UEA.

Norfolk Sport Karate Academy was immensely proud to become the lead Karate club for UEA Karate, marking an exciting new chapter for martial arts at our local university. By bringing Sensei Will’s + Sensei Rhys’ experience, coaching standards, and competitive mindset into the university setting. We envision building a strong, unified Karate team capable of challenging top universities across the country at BUCS competitions and more. Our goal is to develop beginners and current athletes who are technically skilled, disciplined, and confident competitors, while also creating a positive and inclusive club culture that promotes the foundation of traditional Karate. Through our current programming we will continue to establish a powerful karate presence at UEA and raise the standard of university Karate. Thus far we have enjoyed the process of leading the UEA team and look forward to the future we have with them, ready for 2026 BUCS.

First Grading – 100% Success Rate!

In November 2025, we held our first official grading, marking a major milestone for the academy. The results were incredible as every single one of our athletes passed their grading. This is a significant achievement and demonstrates the dedication and hard work of our students. We couldn’t be prouder of each student’s effort, and it’s this commitment to excellence that continues to drive us as we grow and develop.

Total NSKA Medal Tally: April – December 2025.

16 Gold – 3 English Titles, 1 British Title, 1 Coupe de Internationale De Kayl.

14 Silver

22 Bronze – 1 Lion Cup, 1 Coupe de Internationale De Kayl.

Total – 52 medals.

2025 has been a truly successful year for Norfolk Sport Karate Academy, and we are grateful to everyone who has been a part of our journey so far. Our athletes, coaches, families, and association have all played a huge role in helping us build a community focused on growth, respect, and excellence.

As we look toward the new year, we are excited to continue developing our team and expanding the opportunities we offer to our athletes. Opening more doors for more Schools around Norfolk to grow with Karate. Our goal is to keep pushing the boundaries of success, bringing even more national and international titles to Norfolk, and developing future champions who will make their mark in karate.

We are incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished in our first year, and we’re eager to continue building on that success in 2026. Thank you for your support, and here’s to an even more successful year ahead at NSKA!
