October has been an action-packed and exciting month for everyone at Norfolk Sport Karate Academy! From personal challenges and school visits to international competitions, our students and instructors have made the most of October finishing off the month with a Halloween Karate night!
100 Reps a Day Challenge
Throughout October, our members took on the 100 Reps a Day challenge. Where students could choose any exercise, any time, as long as it got you moving! It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, from beginners to black belts, all pushing themselves a little further each day. The challenge has been a brilliant way to build strength, consistency, and motivation outside of class. Well done to everyone who stuck with it!
Spreading Karate Across Norfolk
Sensei Rhys has been out and about this month, visiting multiple schools across Norfolk to share the art and fun of karate with young students. These sessions gave children a chance to experience the energy, discipline, and enjoyment of Karate first-hand. NSKA visited Kinsale Junior, Firside Junior, Taverham High School and is looking to head into more in November!
Elite Harlow Championships
On the 12th of October, NSKA athletes took to the mats at the Elite Open Harlow International Championships. Our competitors showed fantastic determination, representing the club with pride and sportsmanship. Every match was a learning experience and a chance to grow stronger together as a team. A great team spirit from everyone. The whole team put their best performances out there on the tatami regardless of finishing positions the coaches are all immensely proud of them all. 🙌
Our team includes students with varying experience levels. Meaning everyone has their own journey and own standards of competing. But we’re happy to say that everyone is on the right trajectory and we can see improvements coming in from the whole team as we move through the season! 📈
Kata player of the day - goes to Noah S for his phenomenal efforts in his Kata category. Winning every round without dropping any flags to win the Gold! Noah is continuing to show us the work he is putting in is paying off tremendously. 🥋
Kumite player of the day - goes to Louise B for her fantastic gold medal in +35 years in Female Kumite. Winning her final by an 8 point gap! A fantastic performance to end the day.🥋
NSKA Medal Tally:
🥇- 5
🥈- 0
🥉- 4
Again it has to be said that the coaches are immensely impressed with everyone who competed. You are all making your mark at elite level competition and we can’t wait to see how far you will all go! ✨
Luxembourg International
To round off the month, Sensei Rhys, Isabel, and Lucy travelled to Luxembourg for an international event, where they faced some of Europe’s best competitors.
Our selected NSKA Kata Squad Members competed at the Coupe Internationale De Kayl. A world class competition held in Luxembourg under Links Karate Association. 🥋
Our athletes did us very proud and gave some immense performances out on the tatamis. Making it through multiple rounds and showing their true potential at International competitions. This was made evident in their results, as we brought home some medals and some truly admirable finishing positions! 🙌
NSKA Medal Tally:
🥇1
🥉1
We are so proud of our elite squad as they continue to deliver on the International stage! 👊
We’re incredibly proud to share that Lucy brought home Gold and Rhys earned a Bronze medal which is an amazing achievement on the international stage! Isabel also competed brilliantly, showing great technique and courage throughout and made respectable progress and improvements in her categories!
A Huge Well Done to the Whole NSKA Team
This month has been full of effort, travel, and dedication from every single member whether or hat be students, parents, and instructors alike. Whether you took part in the 100 Reps challenge, competed, or supported from the sidelines, you’re all a vital part of NSKA and we wouldn’t be here without every single one of you.
Looking Ahead to November
As we move into November, we’re excited for even more progress and development. We’ll be:
Holding more squad sessions to refine competition skills,
Hosting a grading for students to demonstrate their progress, and
Introducing a new class structure to improve the flow and quality of training for everyone.
November is going to be another fantastic month at NSKA. 📈
