KML Open Championships Success!
A Day to Remember for Norfolk’s Future Champions!
On Sunday 8th June, the Norfolk Sport Karate Academy squad competed at the KML Open Championships, ready to make their mark in their FIRST EVER WKF rules competition. Full of courage and minds focused on precision, our athletes competed in both kata (form) and kumite (sparring), facing strong competition from all around the country.
Kata:
Our kata competitors delivered fantastic performances that left judges impressed. Each movement was a testament to discipline, focus, and dedication – values that every child learns from day one at NSKA.
✅ Sharpness
✅ Control
✅ Explosive power
✅ Precision
Some special competition mentions go to:
A massive well done to our two NEW children’s division competitors! D’Angelo (8 years) & Oliver (7 years). Both athletes were together in the same category of 7 competitors in U10 Kata. With both taking the 1st & 2nd place positions on the podium! Smiling ear to ear whilst doing so! Both have been developing their skills with NSKA for the last 3 months in preparation for competition. This has undoubtedly paid off with such an amazing achievement from both athletes! If you have a child who wants to do something similar to these incredible athletes, NSKA is the place to develop traditional skills that bring success in a competitive environment! 🎯
Well done to Isabel Swanborough who stood out today winning the Gold medal in Senior Female Kata. Isabel has been training relentlessly to improve her competition results. Consisting of dialled in nutrition programmes, as well as specific physical training alongside her technical kata development sessions. All of this hard work is starting to pay off, as shown by her incredible result today!🥇
Kumite:
In the kumite rounds, our fighters faced a variety of opponents with different styles and strategies. But thanks to their rigorous training and resilient mindset, NSKA athletes fought with honor, precision, and heart.
Every match was a showcase of their efforts in:
🔥 Timing & reaction speed
🔥 Respectful aggression
🔥 Adaptability under pressure
🔥 Sportsmanship and humility
No matter the outcome of the bout, our fighters never gave up – and gave everything.
A special mention goes to:
Sam Seely for a crowd energising performance in his Final Kumite Bout. Sam had the whole crowd cheering for him as he fought impeccably, showing a high level of composure as a result of his continued training. Coming away with a Gold medal at Sam’s very first WKF rules competition! 🥇
Medal Tally:
Gold - 5 🥇
Silver - 5 🥈
Bronze - 2 🥉
Total: 12 Medals
5th Place on Medal Table.
An outstanding achievement to place 5th in the medal table at our clubs FIRST Competition. A true testament to the work our athletes put in week after week! 💪
Norfolk Sport Karate Academy promotes all of our students to push themselves towards enhancing their personal development; whether you are already experienced or just a beginner! 📈
A massive well done and huge thank you to our whole team for your efforts and support over the weekend! 🙏
