NSKA May Recap

May Highlights at Norfolk Sport Karate Academy!

May has been a busy and exciting month for everyone at Norfolk Sport Karate Academy, packed with hard work, inspiring performances, and continued community outreach. As we head into summer, our athletes and instructors have been keeping the momentum going strong!

Competition Squad Training in Full Swing. 🎯

Throughout May, our dedicated competition squad has been putting in the hours with multiple training sessions held across the month. With upcoming competitions, we’ve been focusing on developing key elements of our students’ performance — power, endurance, technique, and overall presence.

The improvements we’ve seen are a testament to the commitment of our athletes and coaches. Every session has brought out more intensity and discipline in everyone.

EKF E1 Series Success in Manchester. 🏆

A major highlight of the month was the EKF E1 Series competition held in Manchester, where selected NSKA athletes represented the academy with pride and skill. Our athletes gave it their all and we couldn't be prouder of them. Valuable experience and feedback was learned with this competition.

A huge congratulations to:

Chloe Miller, who took Gold in Para Kata Intellectually Impaired. 🥇

Isabel Swanborough, who earned Bronze in Junior Female Kata. 🥉

The squads hard work and determination continues to inspire. The results achieved reflect the growing standard of excellence at NSKA and show just how far dedication and passion can take our athletes.

Karate in the Community. 🤝

Community engagement is a core value at NSKA, and this month saw Sensei Will out and about sharing the spirit of karate with local youth groups. Sensei Will was very impressed with the efforts and attitudes of everyone who attended his sessions.

On 12th May, Sensei Will had the privilege of teaching a special session for the Mattishall Scouts group.

On 19th May, he led an energetic and fun session for the Buxton Cubs.

Both events were fantastic opportunities to introduce young people to the discipline, confidence, and enjoyment that karate can bring.

EKF Regionals & Nationals Success. 💪

The 24th & 25th May were big dates within this month, as Isabel Swanborough attended the Southern English Regional Kata Training Session, and both Rhys Carter & Lucy Brooks attended the EKF English Nationals Squad Session. Both sessions pushed the athletes mentally and physically. Working technique, power, focus and more. It is a truly fantastic achievement for these athletes to be selected to train at the highest level in England. And we look forward to seeing how far our athletes will go in their competitive journeys.

Looking Ahead. 🔜

As May comes to a close, we’re proud of everything our students and instructors have accomplished. NSKA continues to grow stronger, and the progress we’re seeing month-to-month is a true reflection of our community’s dedication.

Stay tuned for more events, training updates, after school clubs, and competition results coming in June. There’s plenty more in store, and we can’t wait to share it with you!
